The Curve Rocket Pooch

The Rocket Pooch
For Curve Cycles
11 / 2019

Bikepacking is the performance-focused evolution of cycle touring. By utilising innovations in bike design cyclists are travelling further and faster. The perpetual design goal of all bikepackers is to maximise the efficiency of movement. That means minimising weight whilst catering for the practical needs of travelling long distances over multiple days on a bike. At the peak levels of the sport, every item of equipment is analysed to the gram. Curve is a cycling equipment company interested in all aspects of adventure cycling from recreational to elite. For the past 6 years Curve have been producing high-performance carbon wheels & titanium frames for adventure cycling.

The Rocket Pooch is Curve Cycles flagship pack, designed to take advantage of the direct mount ports on their recently released GXR Seek Fork. The Curve team, which includes some of the worlds top cyclists, came to Soft Serve with a depth of concepts and user insights. From the beginning, the proposal was for a two-part solution, a titanium cage that mounts directly to the fork combined with a "micro" pack that quickly and perfectly connects to the cage. The cage and four-point mount system provides a lock-tight connection to the bike. And the smaller pack size spreads cargo evenly across the bike, maintaining balanced handling. Three storage zones provide a quick access zipped area, a dry zone and three expanding stash pockets that can be accessed whilst on the bike. Designing with Curve offered the opportunity for ideal on-road prototype testing and iteration. The result is a thoroughly resolved pack system.

The Rocket Pooch is produced in a combination of 100D and 400D Nylon Cordura. It features a seam-sealed dry bag compartment and a four-point mount system. On launch, the Pooch was released in Curves iconic black and yellow colourway.
